For Those Who Love Men's Watches

We don’t believe that watches should be categorised by gender, it really is all down to personal preference. However, we do appreciate that searching terms like “men’s watches” can often be a convenient short cut to finding slightly larger and more robust timepieces. So, for those who love the likes of a Rolex Submariner, an Omega Speedmaster, an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and a Tag Heuer Carrera – this page is for you.

For Those Who Love Men's Watches

As the biggest luxury watch brand in the world, Rolex has found its way into the collections of an array of people who love men’s watches. The aura of cool surrounding the Daytona, the prestige of the Day-Date and the instantly recognisable Submariner make them firm favourites among those who love men’s watches —not forgetting the Datejust and the Oyster Perpetual which are also much-loved Rolex classics.

Patek Philippe’s flagship steel sports watch, the Nautilus, is another popular choice. Its distinctive design and grail status mean it’s often placed at the top of many watch aficionados’ wish lists, with models in precious metals like rose gold giving it a more feminine appeal. The Patek Philippe Aquanaut is another traditionally men’s watch that will look great on both men and women, offering wearers a cool, dynamic look with its sporty rubber strap.

One of the most iconic chronographs out there, the Omega Speedmaster continues to endear people thanks to its good looks and historic involvement in the 1969 moon landings. Omega’s trusty dive watch, the Seamaster, is also popular, offering wearers a hardy 300 metres of water resistance.

Other perennial favourites of those who love men’s watches include Audemars Piguet’s iconic Royal Oak which, like the Nautilus, was introduced in the 1970s and designed by the late, great Gerald Genta. Breitling’s Navitimer chronograph is famed for its slide rule bezel and is another desirable offering, as are equally iconic chronographs from TAG Heuer such as the masculine, square-shaped Monaco and its older stablemate the Carrera.

Your typical men’s watch is usually anything with a minimum case size of 37mm, but just because the design is a little larger than your typical ladies watch, it doesn’t mean women or people with slimmer wrists can’t pull off larger models.

Naturally, a classic gold or platinum model from Rolex such as the Day-Date is a firm favourite, with A-listers Rihanna and Jennifer Lopez both fans of the Crown’s premier status-symbol piece. Opting for a slightly less ostentatious piece, Friends star Jennifer Aniston is renowned within the watch world for her customised 40mm black DLC-coated Rolex Milgauss—an unorthodox choice that many watch nerds would love to see up close.

Rolex aside, a host of well-known women have been seen sporting even larger timepieces by other Swiss brands. Take Serena Williams for example, a big-hitting tennis player with an equally big-hitting watch: an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore in white. And if you thought that was on the bulky side, supermodel Heidi Klum was photographed wearing one of the largest timepieces out there, the rugged Panerai Radiomir—and we have to say, she carries it off with aplomb.

Of course, a wealth of famous male celebrities continue to opt for larger timepieces. Hollywood’s finest, John Travolta is a big fan of Breitling’s Navitimer. This iconic pilot’s watch is typically masculine, not just due to its size but its distinctive design, too, which features the clever slide-rule bezel. Fellow actor Sylvester Stallone is renowned for his love of Panerai. He famously requested a custom-made model which he wore when shooting 1996 film Daylight. He then created his own rugged Luminor Slytech models in collaboration with the watchmaker.

Meanwhile in the world of sport, legendary basketball player Michael Jordan and English footballer Marcus Rashford are both fans of Rolex’s ultimate status-symbol piece, the Day-Date. This luxurious watch is known as the “President” thanks to its popularity among various world leaders.
